About Cobalt carbonate
Cobalt carbonate is a red monoclinic crystal or powder. Toxic, irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin.
The cobalt metal or cobalt-containing waste material is reacted with hydrochloric acid to form a cobalt chloride solution, and then reacted with sodium carbonate to form a cobalt carbonate precipitate, which is rinsed, centrifuged, and dried to obtain a cobalt carbonate finished product.
Cobalt carbonate is hardly soluble in water, alcohol, methyl acetate and ammonia. Soluble in acid. Does not work with cold concentrated nitric acid and concentrated hydrochloric acid. Heating at 400 ° C began to decompose and release carbon dioxide. In the presence of air or a weak oxidant, it gradually oxidizes to high cobalt carbonate.
Cobalt carbonate is mainly used for the production of cobalt chloride, cobalt sulfate, cobalt oxide, cobalt metal and cobalt naphthenate. Also used as color changing pigments, glass pigments, ceramics, feed trace element additives and trace element fertilizers. Used in the manufacture of cobalt oxide, it is a raw material for manufacturing a positive electrode material for lithium batteries.
Cobalt carbonate is used as a colorant in the ceramic industry for the production of cobalt salts and the coloration of porcelain. Used as a mineralizer in the mining industry. The organic industry is used to make catalysts, camouflage coatings and chemical temperature indicators. Used as a trace element fertilizer in agriculture.
